Privacy Policy

SearchWise (the “Service”) is operated by Mosquito Creek Capital Corp., a corporation based in British Columbia, Canada (“we”, “us”). This policy describes the information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions and requests: support@getsearchwise.comsupport@getsearchwise.com.

Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored as a hash); if you sign in with Google, the name, email, and profile photo Google shares with us.
• Profile information: what you tell us about your background and acquisition goals, your search criteria, and your résumé. If you add search partners, this includes what you tell us about them — their name, role, background, and résumé.
• Deal information: the businesses you track, your notes and deal attributes, the scoring setup you configure (fields, target values, importance levels), and the documents you upload. These may include confidential business information about third parties.
• Billing information: if you buy a paid plan or extra usage, your payment card is collected and stored by Stripe, our payment processor. Card numbers never touch our servers. We keep records of your plan and subscription status; invoices and charge records are held by Stripe.
• Signup and security records: when you accept our terms at signup we record the time, the document versions, your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string. Cloudflare Turnstile processes technical signals from your browser at signup to tell people from bots.
• Usage and technical data: log data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and actions taken, plus metering records of your AI usage.
• Anything you send us directly: such as support emails and the information in them.

How we use your information

• To operate the Service, including the AI features that read the deal information you provide, keep deal records up to date, and score deals against your criteria.
• To bill paid plans, provide receipts and invoices through Stripe, and send renewal reminders.
• To communicate with you about your account, your billing, and your security. We may also email you about changes to the Service; every such email includes a way to opt out. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
• To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and enforce usage limits.
• To improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your information for third-party advertising.

AI processing

Content you submit (deal descriptions and other text, documents, notes, profile details, and your scoring setup) is processed by Anthropic's Claude models through their API to provide the Service's AI features. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. We do not use your content to train models either.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies: the session cookies that keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Because these cookies are strictly necessary to provide the Service, no cookie-consent banner is required.

Aggregated insights

We may create, publish, or sell aggregated, de-identified insights (such as market trends or benchmark statistics) derived from how our customers use the Service. These insights never identify you, your deals, or the businesses you evaluate.

Service providers

We use these service providers to run SearchWise, each processing data only to provide their service to us:

• Anthropic: AI processing (see above).
• Cloudflare: the Turnstile bot check at signup.
• Google: sign-in with Google (optional) and our email delivery (Google Workspace).
• Stripe: payment processing and billing.
• Supabase: database, authentication, and file storage.
• Vercel: application hosting.

If we add a provider that processes your data, we will update this policy at the same time.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on infrastructure located in the United States, and we operate from Canada. By using the Service you consent to your information being transferred to and processed in those countries.

Retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete individual items, such as deals, documents, and notes, in the app at any time, and you can delete your whole account and all of its data in Settings → Account. Notes are part of a deal’s record: when you edit or delete a note, the deal’s history keeps the earlier text. When you delete a document, its file and summary are removed and only its name and dates stay in the deal’s history. When you delete a deal, everything in it is removed, including its notes and their history; your account keeps only a dated record that the deal existed, with its name, so your activity history stays complete. Those records are deleted with your account. Account deletion starts a 30-day recovery window (we email you reminders before the permanent deletion, and a confirmation after); once it passes, your account and content are permanently deleted from our systems. We may retain limited billing and tax records where the law requires it, and our payment processor retains transaction records under its own legal obligations.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is scoped per-user and enforced at the database layer. No system is perfectly secure, but we design the Service so each part of it can access only the data it needs.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Much of this is self-serve: profile and deal data are editable in the app, exports are available in Settings → Exports, and account deletion is in Settings → Account. For anything else, email support@getsearchwise.comsupport@getsearchwise.com and we will respond within 30 days. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's PIPEDA, and we extend the same rights (access, correction, deletion, portability, objection) to users in other jurisdictions, including the EU and the United States.

Children

The Service is for users 18 and older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we update the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will notify you by email or in the app.
